Our very own Instrumental Tutors, using the well-loved songs from the First DaCapo SongBook. Most instruments available.
This is a comprehensive approach to the first steps of learning an instrument using relative solfa. It’s a musicianship approach in 4 sections, each building musicianship, reading and instrumental skills in small steps.
Section 1: we learn an accompaniment to the tune (pulse and ostinatos)
Section 2: we learn to play the tune, with the music presented in stick notation and relative solfa
Section 3: we revisit the songs, this time reading a reduced stave and teaching transpositions
Section 4: we write our own songs.
There are worksheets throughout the book.
