Street Party was written in 2011 for the DaCapo Summer School and as a tribute to the Eden Project Big Lunch initiative. The orchestral accompaniment was written for Aurora Orchestra who joined us for the premiere. Many of the songs have several verses with the same words and long instrumental sections. This gives the opportunity to explore rhythms, solfa and other musical aspects each time there is a new verse. The instrumental interludes are an opportunity to explore the pulse in a variety of ways with the children and for them to listen!
